Al Ruwad Cooperative | Yemen

A 37kg alchemy processed micro-batch of the newly discovered Yemenia genetics, cultivated in the Bait Alal Village of Hayma Kharijiya, by the Al Ruwad Cooperative. This coffee is an ode to ‘The Coffee Revolution’, and is a result of Yemen’s largest and most equitable coffee partnership, next-generation coffee processing, and a previously unexplored genetic landscape. In 2016, Qima signed Yemen's first long-term coffee sourcing partnership between a social enterprise and a coffee cooperative. Al Ruwad Cooperative is one of a rare example of a Yemeni specialty coffee cooperative, serving 285 families - the equivalent of around 3,000 people. Built on honesty, trust, and a shared vision of connecting farmers to consumers, 6 years on, Qima's partnership with Al Ruwad continues to go from strength to strength, and has set a benchmark in equitability and transparency for the industry.
